Your Wedding Present Should Be Thoughtful

Summer came together with several wedding invitations. I normally look forward to weddings although the it is the gift buying part which sometimes gives me some problems. I, of course want to buy these couples an ideal gift within a certain budget. If I get invited to the bridal shower as well, then that also accounts for another gift.

Bridal Shower

Buying gifts for the bridal shower is less complicated as you can procure your gift as listed in the wedding registry. If you want to give the gift that you really want to give the bride, you have to go the shop as soon as you get the invitation, otherwise you will be left with gifts that might not be your first choice. Now, the wedding gift is the gift that you have to give more thought to.

Wedding Present - More Thought Required

Maybe I am just too detail oriented, but as much as possible I strive to fit the wedding present to the wedding’s theme. For example, knowing that this couple loves the outdoors, I might give them a nice picnic basket with several bottles of wine. If my gift to them is an appliance like a mixer, I am likely to package this with some favorite recipes of mine or a cookbook.

Personally, I believe that wedding gifts should be portable to facilitate transporting them from the wedding party to the couple’s residence. You should also remember that factor because transporting all those gifts could become a little tricky.

Many times, the type of wedding gift you give can depend on the area the wedding is taking place. Some areas of the country have customary gifts, especially if it is given from a family member. Also, in many areas of the country it is customary to simply give some form of money as a wedding gift. I know in my area of the country, you very rarely see wedding gifts on the table during the wedding, but there are plenty of cards containing money. However, when I go to family weddings in the Midwest, a wedding gift is usually a physical present and not money.

I am certain I will be able to procure suitable gifts for my forthcoming weddings and as usual I will put so much thought in whatever gift I decide to give. Whatever I choose to give in the end I just have to keep in mind that in gift giving, it is the thought that counts. If still my creativity fails me, then cash gift will be my fallback. This, I am sure will also be acceptable.

Here Comes the Bride - Is It Music to My Ears?

Majority of people who are getting married put a lot of time in choosing the music that will be played during their wedding ceremony. Traditionally, a song is played to welcome the bridal party, there is a special song as the bride marches to her soon to be husband waiting at the altar. Another jubilant song is prepared for the official proclamation of their being husband and wife, which will be played from the wedding place to the wedding party.

There are the time-honored traditional wedding songs, but the couple could choose not to use them. Actually, they can select whatever songs they want, especially if these bear certain significance to them.

It came as a shock to me when my fianc who was normally unaffected by such things nor openly comments on a lot of matters suddenly became touchy regarding this decision. We listened to some of the wedding songs we were supposed to choose from and of course, the organist played that song.

An Unexpected Emotional Reaction

I cannot believe my eyes when I saw him crying real tears while saying that it has been his dream for them to be marching together down the isle with that song in the background. Of course, what can a girl do. If it meant so much to him to the point of crying, I had to change my defiant stance.

Much to my surprise, tears sprung from the eyes of my husband-to-be and he blurted out that he always imagined me walking down the aisle towards him with that song playing. With a few tears, I was overruled, and we ended up using it because I knew how much it meant to him.

This Is a Lifetime Choice, So Take Your Time

Do not rush your choices and it will be ideal if both of you can agree on the repertoire. Observe your fianc, as he might like a specific song included or is averse to a certain type of music, and you should, of course take his choices into consideration.

Dating Agencies - How To

We’ve all been there, unable to find that special someone, or even just a person that shares our interests that we could spend time with, regardless of where it leads. Sometimes we just have to admit that we need some help.

The first dating agency how-to is to find a dating agency that suits you. Many are specific to a certain population. Some are for Christian singles. Others are for a certain ethnic group only, like African American or Jewish. If you do not identify with a particular group or feel bound to date someone from within that same group, you can join up with a dating agency that doesn’t specialize.

Online dating agencies are extremely popular, and offer you a level of anonymity, as well as letting you branch out your search beyond your local area. You should be able to find great testimonials on any site about how much the site helps people match up and come together. These sites generally charge some sort of fee, from an annual or monthly membership to a per contact rate. Make sure you understand what you are going to be paying for before you sign up.

Once you’ve chosen a site, you have only to fill out their questionnaire. You will be asked questions which reveal your interests and goals, your character and lifestyle habits, your traits and spiritual beliefs, as well as the details of what you are looking for in a potential match.

Once the agency finds a match, you will usually be notified by phone or email. They will give you a chance to review the other person’s profile and decide if you wish to initiate contact over the Internet, or set up a date. Either way, you’ll be in for some exciting times sorting through all the potential matches to find that perfect mate, or date.

Confused New Dad? How to Be More Than a Sperm Donor!

1. I doubt you were a great lover your first time out, so why would you expect to know how to be a great dad without any practice? You may not know it yet, but fatherhood can be a lot more fulfilling than donating sperm! Relax, give yourself some time to learn, and have some fun along the way.

2. Diaper duty earns big points. So does feeding, rocking, and bathing your baby. Any hands-on fathering will be a big help to your partner and your baby.

3. Your wife will be herself again. Yes, she is probably on duty 24 hours a day with baby on the brain. No, she probably isn’t much fun right now. But life will return to normal as the three of you adjust to your new situation.

4. Your wife still needs you. Stay nearby and be patient. You may not recognize the woman you partnered up with 9 or 10 months ago, but she is still in there.

5. Your sex life may have taken a nose dive, but you will be able to engage in some adult fun, with your wife, soon.

6. No one is to blame for postpartum depression, baby blues, or any other postpartum mood disorder. The vast majority of women go through some version of these. Don’t blame her or yourself. Many symptoms are temporary, and there are treatments available for all of them.

7. Sleep helps. Your wife is probably getting a fraction of the sleep she used to. You may be on the light side as well. Helping each other get more sleep is one of the most important things you can do to help everyone feel better.

8. Trust your instincts. Different “experts”, including the guy in line at the grocery store, will tell you to handle your baby a different way. Trust yourself, your wife and your baby to tell you what you need to know.

9. Playing is essential. It’s a known fact that your baby needs play to stimulate both body and mind to develop properly. Get down, give in to your inner child and groove with your baby.

10. Learn when to ask for help. Life can be stressful with a new baby. It should get easier with time. If things get worse, or simply don’t improve, it is time to ask for help. Check out www.Mommy-Muse.com for information and great resources.

Birthday E-Cards: Quick and Cheap

by Fabian Toulouse

Who loves getting greeting cards? Everyone. Who loves sending them? Not many of us. This is where the cost of email reigns supreme. Well-wishers never need to buy stamps, paper, pens, or greeting cards - they end up saving gas, time, and money!

First it was the hype of sending emails, now its sending e-cards. E-cards are electronic greeting cards designed for any possible occasion or event. Most of them have simple animation and musical scores. Moreover, you can send a video e-card, which is a snippet of live-action or animated video designed to celebrate every occasion under the sun.

A popular video e-card on the Internet features a dog that eats a birthday card. It is a popular clip and it is a riot. Remember the tired excuse about your dog eating your homework? It would be fitting to send your best friend, who is now working as a teacher, an e-card version of this old standby.

Another popular video e-card involves a birthday girl getting her face covered with cake. Since a birthday girl is not allowed to be angry with her friends, the resulting tension is pure hilarity. That’s not fair, you say - true - but all is fair in love and birthdays. After all, preparing the party is always a thankless job.

Yet another video involves a dog with the distinctive face of a bloodhound. It is also a birthday card and the message is very simple: “It’s your birthday, so smile!” The recipient does not have to be a dog-lover to appreciate the lovable canine. A feline version would be fitting, though getting a cat to react the way this adorable dog does would be quite a feat.

Video e-cards are so straightforward to send. Choose the one that tickles your fancy, enter the recipient’s email address, and off it goes. Certainly, sending birthday e-cards does not match the formality and forethought of sending a traditional greeting card - after all, there is something to be said for the touch and feel of paper and pen - but it is a quick and easy way of letting someone know they are in your thoughts.

Video E-cards Rock

How many of us love sending email greetings? How about receiving them? Emails used to be the most expedient way of sending greetings, especially when compared to the traditional pen-and-paper snail mail. Snail mail, on the other hand, can easily be misplaced or even stolen. To send an email, you don’t need stamps, paper, pen, or a pricey greeting card. You certainly don’t have to send your greeting cards three weeks before Christmas!

After the hype of emails came the popularity of e-cards. E-cards are designed with simple animations, like a laughing Santa Claus or blinking Christmas lights. They are usually embedded with sounds and some e-card services allow you to pick your favorite songs. Additionally, there are now video e-cards, chalked full of funny clips.

A favorite video e-card is the one featuring an attractive woman saying ‘Ho Ho Ho.’ Now, this is terribly sexist, for sure, and some people might see it as insulting, but it does managed to make some people laugh. Be careful when sending such videos - you don’t want anyone to take it the wrong way. Someone who can take jokes and thinks little of women will surely like this e-card. After all, what’s Christmas without merry macho laughter?

Another favorite chauvinistic video is the one featuring a woman holding a road sign that says ‘Slippery When Wet.’ Listen closely to the background audio to find out know what exactly gets slippery when wet. Spoiler: it is nothing salacious, but it is humorous nonetheless. Make that chauvinist pig in your life laugh, especially after a stressful day at the office.

Video e-cards are so easy to send. Just choose the video you fancy, type in your friend’s email address, and send it. If you are feeling creative and want something different, then you can also shoot your own video, add your own songs, and send it to that close relation. Sending video e-cards cannot compete with sending a bona fide card in the mail, but it is the next best thing. Kind of, right? Close enough, don’t worry.
